Messy apple pear tart

You and I, we should have a heart to heart.
Don't worry; I won't talk about the amount of calories in this pie.
I'm also not about to tell you that you should really do your dishes.
{This ain't your mothers blog, girl...}
{Lame pun intented}

sweet pretzels are used as tart crust

Seriously though, we should talk about the season aproaching.
That's right; party-season is aproaching.
This season is also known as awesome-season. Put-on-your boots-and-dance-season. Or my favorite: this-girl-can-boogie-and-I'm-about-to-show-you-so-season.
Because we girls should stick together, I made a small list of advice you should consider deeply.

Can I mustache you a cookie? Coconut-Jam bars

I'm in the very middle of my moving process right now.
Really, I don't think you can get any more to the centre of something than I just did.
My studiebooks, my oven and some food is left with me for the last couple of days,
while my books, clothes and matras are already put away.

Yes, you've read that correctly.
My bed is no longer among us.
I'm a bedless girl, lost in the city...

Individual peach crumble with rosewater syrup and pistachio nuts | daydreaming

Some days, everything falls into its place.
You wake up by the sound of birds whispering music in your ears; you snooze for about fifteen minutes and then some more.
You take a long, chillaxing bath with lots and lots of foam and you feel like a girl from the movie when the foam covers your boobs. You play along.
After a long and satisfying breakfast {think; fruits, frensh toast and cinnamon buns} you go and read a book in the garden while the grass tickles your toes and the sun plays with your skin.
You meet with your friends in the park.
They made clafoutis, cake and a fancy salad. You brought champagne.
Because you're that kinda girl.
When you pop the bottle the champagne splashes around and you all laugh.
The sun will dry your clothes.
There are no worries today.

Other days your ass hurts because you've been sitting for 10 hours in the same position
to study stuff you don't give a crap about.
Just saying.

Palmiers, baby!

last sunday was mothers day.
What have you guys done to spoil your mom?

My mama got an enormous brunch.
I made indulgent cinnamon rolls and roasted peaches with a crumble topping.
They were totally worth the three full hours {!} of work.
My sisters made amazing scones with clotted cream and jam,
a fancy fruit salad and freshly squeezed orange juice...

For my mother-in-law I wanted to make something simple and easy,
something that doesn't require hours of work or complicated ingredients like yeast.
Still, I wanted to win her heart with something sweet and cute.
Well, I'm glad to tell you these little heart-shaped palmiers did the work, baby!
It's hard to believe these crispy puffy cookies require only three ingredients and three minutes of work.

Dark choc and pink pepper biscuits.

The pretty Pink Pepper met Dark Chocolate on a sunny afternoon.
They shared their first kiss on a crispy, crumbling cookie
and even though Pepper was a bit of a tease,
they had a way of completing each other.
It was love at first bite.

I hope you'll have a wonderful day;
filled with love, laughter and as much chocolate as your liver can bare.

Beer is awesome! | Corona (cup)cake

Something you guys might know about me is that I never was a big lover of beer.
I always loved wine in all varieties,
I loved tea and coffee
I loved bubbles and  coctails.

But until recently I simply didn't like the taste of beer.

{yes.
I'm from Belgium.
No.
I'm not ashamed to admit this stuff.}

Then, something changed:

I made a list with challenges I set for myself in this upcoming year. One of those challenges is to drink 13 different kinds of beer
{In the course of  a full year, mother. Not on one night, Jeez louise!}

So this is what happened:

Beer 1: Yuk. Gross.
Beer 2: Err. Yeah. Whatev'
Beer 3: This one is actually not that bad.
Beer 4: Such a rich and very complex aroma...
Beer 5: Beer = good!

And this is what happened next:

Messy cookbook | Authentic Belgian Sugar Waffles

This cookbook survived my childhood.
This edition is about 10 years older than I am.
That's right:
F'cking historical dough is sticking to every page.

I love these visual and touchable memories almost more than I love random pictures from the oldies.
{And oh boy, how I love those}

1 recipe: 2 styles | Chocolate beet (cup)cake

Oh my beloved beets,

How I love the way you look at me -from the corner of the table;
the way you dance around in my mouth;
the way you touch my hands and make them be seen.
I admire your dark purple color and your uniqueness.
You change not only the color of my hands, my clothes and my urine {fo real} but also the color of any food that crosses your road.
And for that; I love you.
You complete my salads, my burgers and more recently - 'my' chocolate cake.
You understand me.

Once again I used one recipe to bake 2 seperate dishes. One {special} version contains a pie with cinnamon-honey frosting; the {more simple} other version are cupcakes with vanilla whipped cream.

One step behind | 3 pop tarts

I'm not a trendsetter.
I never was one...
{The soulja boy socks I tried to set as a trend -strangely enough- didn't make it }
I'm afraid I never will be.

I'm just always ONE step behind.
It's a shame, really.

Last week, for example, I bought the cutest little pair of shoes {picture is comming up}.
Only to find out that everybody {and with that, I mean all of my friends} seemed to have the same ones already in their closet.
So most of my conversations now tend to go like this:

Love at first word | clafoutis with plums

Cla-fou-tis.
Clafoutis.

Say it slowly.
Pronounce every syllable.
Give it a little french touch.
- You may even add a little whisper.

Cla-fou-tis
